- Debit Fee Cap Is Here to Stay
At least for now, according to the Federal Reserve Board. However, NAFCU finds that this 21 cent fee cap is not nearly high enough to allow credit unions to break even on debit payment services for their members. [9/19/14]

NAFCU CEO Dan Berger has asked the Federal Home Loan Bank Board to give credit unions another 60 days to submit comments on the FHLBâs proposed changes to its membership eligibility requirements. Berger said that the proposal is complex and credit unions need more time to analyze the impact of the proposed changes. [9/5/14]
- NAFCU Submits Comment Letter to NCUA on Reg Updates
NAFCU has submitted a comment letter to NCUA citing its âdirty dozenâ list of regulatory requirements that should be eliminated or amended. In particular, NAFCU states that the Member Business Lending Rule is far too restrictive and burdensome and that certain bylaw provisions need to be revised to reflect modern practices. [9/3/14]

- NCUA to Propose Regulatory Improvements
NCUA Chair Debbie Matz, speaking at the NAFCU Annual Conference, announced that in the coming months NCUA will be issuing three proposed rules that she believes will provide greater flexibility and guidance for credit unions. Specifically, she referred to plans to effectively eliminate the 5% cap on fixed assets, to provide greater flexibility to the member business lending rule and to update the NCUA advertising rule in order to address new technology, including social media.
