- NCUA Board Vice Chairman Broadly States Goals for 2016
Rick Metsger, the NCUA Board Vice Chairman called upon credit unions to embrace NCUA goals that reflect the quickly evolving economic environment. - MBL Final Rule on Todayâs NCUA Board Agenda
The NCUA Board will be voting today on the proposed changes to the member business lending rule that removes many of the limits on underwriting criteria, as well as eliminating the personal guarantee requirement. If approved as proposed, individual credit unions would be able to set their own underwriting standards based on the credit unionâs business model and risk tolerance. [2/18/16]
- CUs Asked to Urge Congress to Extend Exam Schedules
NAFCU is encouraging credit unions to contact their Congressional representatives today to ask them to sign a letter to NCUA Chair Debbie Matz requesting that the agency return to the 18-month exam schedule. The letter advises that a longer exam cycle will provide needed regulatory relief and better allocate NCUA resources. - NAFCU Issues New Compliance e-Handbook
NAFCU has launched a new e-handbook entitled âCredit Union Compliance 101,â which is designed to provide guidance to new compliance officers as well as serving as a reference guide for experienced compliance officers. The e-handbook, which is available now for purchase, provides links to resources, guidance on specific areas such as advertising and lending, an index of significant NCUA Legal Opinion Letters, an index of the active Letters to Credit Unions, and several chapters devoted to the role and responsibilities of the compliance officer. NASCUS' (National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors) President and CEO Lucy Ito is featured in the association's video that urges state regulators and credit unions to comment on the NCUA's Overhead Transfer Rate (OTR) that is used to cover the federal agencies costs.
