- NCUA to Host Data Mining Webinar
NCUA will be hosting a free webinar entitled, âData Mining: Golden Nuggets for Your Marketing Campaignâ on Wednesday, October 21st at 200 pm EST. A panel of marketing experts will discuss a number of issues from capturing and using member and profitability data to calculating a marketing campaign ROI to current trends in credit union marketing. The NCUA joined other regulatory agencies in promoting awareness of cybercrime and terrorism as part of the annual National Cyber Security Awareness Month. The NCUA is scheduled to join others in promoting awareness of action including the release of a new cybersecurity assessment tool.[10/2/15]
- NCUA Urges Credit Unions to Serve Members Affected by California Fires
Due to the recent fires in California the NCUA has asked credit unions to look for opportunities to serve members by saying, âCredit Unions are about serving members, and when disasters, like the California fires, strike, they look for opportunities to help.â
- NCUA Asks Credit Unions to Preview New Public Website
Credit unions and other stakeholders should take the time to accept NCUAâs invitation to preview its new public website and provide feedback on the design and functionality of a preview version of the site. During the preview period NCUA staff will be continuing to make additional improvements and enhancements to content. Comments on the preview site should be sent by email to ncuapreview@ncua.gov. - Federal Reserve System to Sponsor Fair Lending Webinar
On October 15, 2015, the Federal Reserve System will host a fair lending webinar. Participating agencies will include NCUA, CFPB, the FDIC, the OCC, the DOJ, the Federal Reserve Board, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. A wide range of subjects will be discussed, including developments in mortgage lending, compliance management, pricing, and the use of data to evaluate fair lending risk. [9/29/15]
- Reg Relief Bills to be Marked Up on Wednesday
The House Financial Services Committee is slated to mark up three bills on Wednesday that could provide regulatory relief for credit unions. The first would require NCUA to stop and conduct a study regarding its proposed risk-based capital rule before proceeding with a final rule. The other two bills affect the leadership of the CFPB and the fiduciary responsibilities of investment advisors. [9/28/15]

The NCUA announced the sixth credit union in 2015 to liquidate. This time it was SWC Credit Union chartered in 1941 with assets of $1.9 million and 309 members historically based on employees and various concessionaires of Sears, Roebuck & Company and located in various counties of Florida. - NCUA Gives Control Back to Keys FCU
NCUA is citing the return of control of Key Federal Credit Union in Key West, FL to its members as a great success story. NCUA conserved the credit union in 2009 when its net worth ratio fell to 2.37%. As of June, 2015, its net worth had risen to 5.75%. [9/24/15]
- CUNA Urges NCUA to Reconsider Corporate CU, Reimbursement, and BSA Regs
CUNA has sent a letter to NCUA in response to its annual Economic Growth and Paperwork Reduction Act review that encourages that agency to revisit regulations concerning corporate credit unions, reimbursements to credit union volunteers and employees, and Bank Secrecy Act requirements. Specifically, CUNA requests that NCUA reconsider provisions relating to vote recordation and audit and reporting requirements for corporate credit unions. For natural person credit unions, CUNA recommends taking a closer look at reimbursements, insurance coverage, golden parachutes and indemnification requirements. [9/23/15]
