National Community Reinvestment Council issues analysis by ZIP code to find that complaints from predominately minority communities more like to have complaints closed without relief; calls upon CFPB and other agencies to use the complaint database in CRA exams. [10/15]

CRA's bite isn't limited to administrative headaches, as PacWest is finding out. The California bank's plans to acquire CapitalSource is facing opposition from community groups concerned about its commitment to the Community Reinvestment Act in light of its low-satisfactory rating in its lending, investment and service tests. Some cheer "Invest in Boston" bill as a way to encourage banks seeking to do business with the city to pay attention to their mortgage and small business lending practices, CRA, personal lending, and hiring; others consider the new bill superfluous to federal and state oversight.
